Glowicki announced recently that
Scott Braley has been appointed
the administrative director of the
association effective Sept. 1.

Braley has acted as pregram
coordinator for the past two years
and was instrumental in developing
several new initiatives, including
the Price/Bekins Grand Prix and
the upcoming Smirnoff Challenger
tournaments.

Additionally, fe was the chief
Organizer of the very successful
Nike/Tennis B.C. school program
which reached over 10,000 elemen-
tary school children throughout
B.C.

“We need to continue the en-
thusiasm and momentum
generated from the Federation
Cup, and we're -oufident that Mr.
Braley and our st. “ will be able to
meet the new  hallenges,’’
Glowicki said. **We ve also added
Joan McMaster to the staff as an
adminstrative assistant, and her
experience with the Federation
Cup over the past year should
prove invaluable.’’

Tennis B.C. is also on the move
in other directions.

In addition to the major
USTA/Smirnoff Challenger tour-
nament slated for the Blue Moun-
tain Racquet Club and North
Shore Winter Club this fall, the
board of directors is initiating an
application for a professional
event next summer. Discussions
are continuing with several groups
in regard to the establishment of a
permanent site for an event.

Tennis B.C. will continue the
expansicn of their junior
development programs at the
Western Canadian Training Centre
(UBC) and throughout the pro-
vince under the guidance of pro-
vincial coach Marjorie Blackwood.

The reorganization follows the
Tecent announcement that execu-
tive director Bob Moffat will be
leaving Tennis B.C. on Sept. | to
undertake new responsibilities as
president of the B.C. Summer and
Winter Games,

Tennis B.C. will continue to
operate from offices located in the
Sport B.C. Administration Centre
at 3200 Hornby Street in Van-
couver.

win the North Vancouver Reere-
ation Centre Mixed Slow Pitch
Tournament.

The Olympic Moochers won the
hotily-contested championship with
a 13-8 victory over Andreas.
