Sports Flicka vaults into fall FLICKA GYM Club will be star- ting its annual registration for fall programs on Sept. 13 at the North Vancouver Recreation Centre gymnasium, Flicka has had a long history and is closely associated with the North Shore. As a community resource, the club has fostered gymnastics at all levels, and has been a strong supporter of its community representatives. Such Flicka graduates as Tracy Wilson, and Anita and Sandry Botnen are recognized as top per- formers in Canadian gymnastics. There has been a long and con- sistent history of Fiicka members as national team members, Western Canadian champions, and provincial champions at every level. The club has maintained a well- trained coaching staff, who offer a wide variety of programs to suit many skill levels. The experience of the current staff means that the program development will allow gymnasts to move smoothly between levels as their skills increase. The coaching staff will be in- volved in a continuous series of updating clinics and courses to further enhance their own capabil- ities. The basis of the club is primarily competitive, but this year there will be special emphasis placed on rec- reational! participation. Because the club draws its membership from the North Shore, and considers itself to be community oriented, Flicka has always tried to stimulate local tal- ent. Because the club is expanding its programs, there are more oppor- tunities for younger, older, and recreationally-inclined gymnasts. The concentration on recre- ational interests means lots of fun and learning with a lower time commitment. The kindergym program has oppectunities for girls aged three to five. More general recreation pro- grams are available for girls aged six to 12. Registration will take place on Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flicka Gym, North Vancouver Recreation Centre, 123 East 23rd in North Vancouver. For further info, cal] 985-7918.
