resident living on Nelson
Avenue, said she thinks it’s
amazing West Van's dog
bylaw allows people to keep
up to 10 dogs on residential
property.

Hillier told council she
would like to see the
municipality redraft the local
dog tax, kennel and pound
bylaw to limit the number of
mutts any one person may
keep in a neighborhood.

“I'm frankly amazed that
in 1985 West Van would
consider allowing any person

and an assortment of im-
mature dogs in a backyard
kennel,’ said Hillier in a let-
ter to council,

She pointed out that most
of the properties in her
neighborhood are 50-foot
lots, yet her neighbor has
been Iegaily keeping a dog
kennel.

Hillier complained that
until recently she has been
subjected ‘‘on a daily basis’’
to day-long yappings of her
next door neighbor's
pooches.

What she wants council to
do is to make it illegal under
a new bylaw for anyone to
operate a dog kennel in a
residential area.

Hillier, meanwhile, is not
alone in her disdain and
crusade against the bylaw
which allows a person to
keep numerous dogs as pets
or as boarders.

letter to council that a bylaw
should be drafted to limit

bylaw to allow for the con-
struction of a 10,000 square
foot industrial building.
Council accepted the reports
