Unlike previous elections, there wasn’t the usual ‘‘red baiting’’ which was just as well for, as always, I was ready to give the perpetrators a fitting rebuff. 1 will carry out, to the best of my ability, the trust the voters have placed in me. In umes such as these, when all taxpayers are concerned that their money be carefully expended, it 1s of the utmost importance that all citizens be kept abreast of the issues and individuals tn- volved in their ltocal government. There was an attempt by the right wing civic organiza- tion, TAGG, to maintain their control of District coun- cil; however, with my _ vic- tory, their plans have been thwarted and there will now be at least a semblance of balance. The format of the meetings was varied but the chairman- ship was consistent and of good quality.
