pulled in 31 drinkers

THE FIRST-EVER summer CounterAttack pulled
in 31 drivers suspected of drinking and driving in
the period leading up to the Labor Day holiday

weekend.

Police in West Vancouver
charged 14 drivers with

alcohol-related offenses and

given the crackdown.

West Vancouver.

As well as the rmpaired
driving charges, police in
West Vancouver issued 140
tickets to drivers not wearing
seat belts and written warn-
ings to another 49 drivers for
vehicle defects or traffic vio-
lations. ~

The summer crackdown
— similar to CounterAttack
blitzes held Christmas and in
the late spring — seemed to
have paid off, at least in
West Vancouver, where only
one alcohol-related accident
was recorded between

August 18 and September 3.
