Bernard Tague is the first
multiple sclerosis patient in
B.C. to try the controversial
hyperbaric oxygenation
(HBO) treatment -being of-
fered by Underwater
Technology School Lid. in
North Vancouver.

HBO is a treatment in
which a patient is entirely
enclosed in a_=pressure
chamber, breathing oxygen
under pressure. It is used to
treat a number of diseases,

proof that HBO helps ‘MS
sufferers, says June Talbot,
director of Patient Services
for the MS Society. But she
added that a study con-
ducted by the American Na-
tional MS Society showed
that it may be beneficial to
people who recently got MS,
although so far, most doc-
tors refuse to endorse it.

‘It’s very different for
