OPEN ‘LETTER To WEST VAN..MAYOR. DERRICK HUMPHREYS ~ _mailbox. ————— lue buses need rescheduling _ This is an open letter to you, protesting the scheduling of our West Vancouver buses. If there is one other bus above all that the West Van blue bus should connect with, it is the only bus it meets on the north shore, Hydro’s (U.T.A.) “Crosstown” bus_at Park Royal (east and west). But it does not. Bus commuters crossing the north shore have at least a.10-15 minute wait for the Dear Editor: Anybody who is interested in the annual statements of revenue and expenditures, investment in capital assets eastbound Crosstown, and up. to, 40 minutes for the same connection on Sundays and holidays._Coming the opposite way can be a nightmare. I’ve often — too _often -— experienced the Crosstown arriving on schedule at the north Park Royal station just in time to watch the West Van blue pull away for Ambleside, driven no doubt by a driver too eager, perhaps to end his ' shift. at 14th Street, and too uncaring, no matter what, of stranded passengers are often elderly and/or han- dicapped people. and I've seen the next Crosstown arrive before the next West Van blue, when both buses operate on 30 minute. schedules. It happens all the time. . lasked a driver about this and he said the schedule is set up so the West Van and ‘North Van buses just miss each other. He added that some drivers: wait anyway, some don't. “It’s up to the driver,” he said. I believe the drivers of the late night buses make it a personal policy to wait for the Crosstown. But that doesn’t help the majority of bus travellers throughout — the day. And you know, all it would take to correct this is a re-scheduling of the system by a matter of minutes. For example, leave Vancouver at five '. Minutes after the hour in- stead of on the hour.
