City Mayor Jack Loucks tol: the News that Imperial Oui is the main subject of the suit. ‘*We contend the pollution was created on Imperial’s property and it flowed underground into city property and onto Fullerton Fill.’’ Loucks described Imperial’s property as being just north of the railway tracks and east of Fell Avenue, “This contamination was ongoing for many years, similar to the Expo lands problems,”’ Loucks told the News. City lawyer Bob Baumann of Bull, Housser & Tupper was unavailable for comment, but further details of the suit will be available when a statement-of- claim is fited. The suit claims Forsyth allowed petrochemical products and other contaminants to escape from its property, and cites the Fullerton Lumber Co. for pase oof unspecified contaminants. Imperial Oil Chemicals in Vancouver referred inquires to its Calgary office. Don Coghill, the company’s public affairs officer for B.C., Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories, referred calls to Phil De Leeuw of Van- couver, imperial’s environmentai specialist in charge of active site reclamation. Aime Lehouillier sifts through the after- math of a fire that caused extensive damage Wednesday to a home at 4186 Rockridge Rd. in the Caulfeild area.
