To know when your feather requires cleaning, check the most worn areas including the collar, cuffs, pockets and lin- ing for dirt and discolouration. If you stain your garment with a liquid such as oil or water, inmediately place an absorbent cloth on the garment to soak up the spill. Don not rub. Sprinkle baby pow- der or baking soda on the stain and leave overnight to allow the powder to draw out the liquid. You can then brush off the pow- der with a suede brush. This treatment should help keep the stain from penetrating the skin of the garment. Dust and dirt may be wiped away with a soft, dry sponge or cloth. If the garment is wet, allow it to air-dry naturally, away from heat. To maintain the garment’s shape, store it on a supportive, broad hanger, not wire, and never store the garment under plastic which will cause the leather to dry out. Wear a scarf with a leather or suede jack- et to protect the collar area from perspira- tion and body vils. Never apply pins, adhesive badges or tape to leather or suede.
