NOT long ago we asked you if vou were worried about the possibility of home invasion. Sixicy-three per cent of you said yes. And this week's telephone survey reveals that even more of you don’t believe our courts are doing, much to deter the proliferation of similar crimes. Last week B.C. Supreme Court judge Mr. Justice Alexander ; _ G. Henderson sentenced a young couple to four years gy | iguiring and three months in prison for the home invasion of a reporter North Vancouver residence in March, 1997. The cou- ple, dressed in black, wore ski masks and carried sawed- off shotguns. They tied up and gagged the parents of two children, than ages six and four, who were asicep in the house, demanded wallets and took bank cards. The sentence resulted irom a deal between Defence and Crown lawyers that took account of the 10 months the robbers spent in custody awaiting trial. They will likely serve less than half the four-year term behind bars.
