These operators charge only one price per item tor everything. Goody's Cleaners is 3 prices only and takes away the confusion of what your clean- ing will cost before you enter the door. The prices are much lower than your average cleaner but the catch is payment in advance. Kind of a MacDonaidizing of dry cleaning. Most customers favor the idea. It’s like buy- ing a bargain air fare. The catch is payment in advance to obtain the lower price. Shirts are 99¢ with dry cleaning, most other items are $1.99 and the highest price for a tew items are $3.99 (or $4.99 at some high rent locations). There are other things to note. No sewing machine on the premises thus no repairs or alterations. No leathers or suedes. No sleeping bags or heavy items like drapes. These are left to the "doulique” or tull service plants The whole idea is volume cleaning with sophisticated equipment that is computerized to cycle goods according to fabric, colors or size of load. One prime factor is thal the cleaning machine is designed around the environment and manutactured in West Germany where the environment regulations are the most stringent world-wide. it is felt that customers will appreciate the design and prirne purpose of using this equipment and are welcome to view the equipment upon request. The quali- ty of cleaning is also amazing and has im- pressed operators world-wide. If you're con- scious of dry cleaning costs you'll be happy to know of the location in North Vancouver at the Park & Tilford Centre and another in Vancouver at 1247 Davie Stieel. (There are others throughout Western Canada). These stores are tranchised and invest- ment details are available by calling 988-8814 or writing to Goody's Cleaners Franchises inc., 1906 Lonsdale Avenue, North Van- couver, BC. V7M 2K}. PS. They are an all-Canadian company. Advertisement LIFESTYLES Bungy equipment ‘fooiproof’ From page 29 and they were all over land. No one should ever jump over land or shallow water. When you jump over deep water you have in- surance should anything go wrong.”” Following my talk with Brown, it is time for my jump. ! sign the form that waives company liability in the event of an accident, then step onto the scales and have my weight written on my wrist. I then cliinb to the top of the bridge. Looking over the edge the water ed feet below seems a long way off. Thick terry towel cloth is wrap- ped around my ankles, a thick nylon belt is affixed, and the bungy, a wrist-thick latex cord, is attached. The operation is done slowly and then checked and double checked. The concern for jumper safety is impressive. Now I’m ready, and I must hop the few feet to the edge of the bridge platform. With no rail in front and the gorge below it feels really high up. There is no turning back. My heart is pounding, and I can feel the adrenalin racing through me. The countdown begins, ‘‘Three, two, one... bungy!”’ And on that note I leap straight out, mimicking Tarzan, the Saturday morning hero of my youth. It’s describe difficult the next to accurately few seconds. They pass by quickly but also seem Suspended. The rock walls of the gorge are a blur seen in my peripheral vision. My focus is on the water which I am rushing towards at an in- credible speed. Soon | feel the pull of the cord and begin to slow down, then I’m hurtling back up towards the bridge. A series of bounces on the latex bungy cord follows until they fi- nally slow down and I feel myself being lowered to the waiting boat. My face feels like it is ready to split from the enormous grin I’m wearing. 1 feel great: charged, pumped up, ready to do it again. Nothing I’ve experienced com- pares to this. When I drive away it is with the conviction that fll be back. When you purchase home insurance from BCAA, you’re getting the peace of mind we've grown famous for.
