This takes place during National Voluntcer Week at 7:30 p.m., at the Theatre of West Vancouver Secondary School, 1750 Mathers Ave. The full evening will consist of refreshments, entertainment in the form of Scottish dancing, and a guest speaker, Dr. Brian O'Connor of North Shore Health, whose topic is Volunteering for a Healthy Community. Well-known West Vancouver fitness leader Sue Hills will follow with a fitness break. The evening will culminate with the recognition and awards to the five outstanding volunteers. The North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre, located at 1060 I'M JUST FAT Roosevelt Cres., North Vancouver, provides people to fit into the many BECAUSE EM volunteer opportunities available on the centre’s files. Volunteers fulfill needs that range from watciing a movie with a senior and cating popcorn, tutoring an elementary school student with learning disabilities, visiting shut-ins and golfing with a senior once a week. The volunteer centre also has a legal assistance program anid for the last few weeks has been inundated with requests to hetp with income tax returns for seniors and others on fixed or low inco:nes. During National Volunteer Week, April 22 to 28, the volunteer centre is happy to honor all volunteers and to pay tribute to five special voiun- teers who have made an especially dedicated commitment in the last year.
