Baker both merabers of the hall of fame of B.C. lacrosse. A member of the Squamish In- dian Band, Baker hopes to play for the North Shore Indian Senior B team. Other association lacrosse action this past season saw about 100 players fielded on the various teams, and Bantam C and B squads winning gold and bronze medals respectively in the B.C. provincial playoffs. Under coaches Pat Scott and Joe Vrecko, the Bantam C team got off to a slow start, but rallied to take the top spot in the provincial playoffs. ; The Bantam B team, coached by ‘Don Stephens and Paul Richard- son,. represented the North Shore in the B.C. Summer Games and captured the bronze medal at the provincial playoffs. Coming fourth in league and provincial playoffs was the Midget A team’, which was coached by Les Wilson and Brad Beath. Classifieds Sell 986-6222 “We did very well this year con- sidering we had some problems getting started,”’ said Paterson. “Overall, we did about as well as we could have expected.’” To boost the ranks of lacrosse players for the coming season, the association will be going into local schools to try to interest new players, and with the possible ad- dition of an intermediate team for older teens Paterson hopes more players will join. “About 10 years ago we used to have about 1,000 kids playing each year,’? he noted. ‘‘Now that’s down quite a bit.”’ Registration for the next season is expected to start in January, and the association hopes to set up a fun lacrosse league, starting then as well. “It’s a heck of a game for kids,’’ he added.
