Options | for | |volunteers| VOLUNTEER WORK is like put- ting pieces of a puzzle together— the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre tries to match a person’s skills and interesis, as closely as possible, to an organiza- tion’s needs. The following are a few of the options available to North Shore volunteers. AN INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON organization re- quires marshals and other helpers for an August 9 race. Volunteers will receive a T-Shirt and an in- vitation to the post-race banquet. You will be required to attend an orientation session and you must be available from 7 to 1] a.m. (approximately) on the day of the race. DRIVERS are needed to help peo- ple who cannot manage the bus or drive, If you are able to donate an occasional hour of your time, you can help someone keep a doctor’s. appointment or other important engagement. A GRAPHIC ARTIST is required to help create a non-profit agen- cy’s brochure. This work would be appropriate for anyone wishing to pursue a career in commercial art direction. ; A SENIORS’ CENTRE in North Vancouver would like to have a weekly sing-a-long but cannot manage without a PIANO PLAYER. Please help make beautiful music by giving an hour of your time and talent on Thurs- day afternoons. MARKETING AND ECOLOGY will go hand-in-hand for the management of a gifi shop specializing in ecology-related items. The time commitment is up to you and training will be provid- ed. As manager you wil] be responsible for creating displays and ordering merchandise. Some public relations work will be re- quired. TYPE AT HOME or in the office and help launch a new program: unique to the North Shore. Mail- ing lists must be typed soon. Accu- racy, not speed, is the key to this work! For these and other positions contact Joan at the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre (a participating United Way Agen- cy) at 985-7138.
