WEST VANCOUVER Pubs request longer TWO WEST Vancouver pubs have requested permis- sion from District Council to extend their hour of ser- vice, and public input has been requested in both cases. Troller Pub of Horseshoe Bay wishes to extend its Friday and Saturday closing hours from 12 midnight to l a.m. “Friday and Saturday are party nights. This would keep the people in Horseshoe Bay instead of driv- ing around and on the highway in the early hours,”’ said Don Wilson, co-owner of Troller Pub, Square Rigger Pub, located in the Village Square at 1425 Marine Drive, wishes to extend its daily closing hour from midnight until | a.m. and wants to provide outdoor seating until nightfall. Architect Terry Fogle said that the four outdoor tables would be provided in an attempt to catch the “funchtime trade” and liven up the Village Square, which is, otherwise ‘‘rather dead.*’ : Fogle also vouched for the pub, which has, he said, seen steady . : improvement. Social planner Richard Wagner has recommended against approval of both puus’ requests. In support of his stand, Wagner cited numerous complaints -regarding noise at Troller Pub, including problems of vandalism and theft in the parking fot. Although noise hasn’t been much of a problem around Square Rigger Pub, the area attracts many teenagers frequenting McDonald’s and the 7-Eleven. Wagner also felt noise could be a problem with the proposed outdoor pub seating. THE FOLLOWING is a list of re- cent North Shore crimes.
