In an interview with the News before she left, Moore said, ‘‘We’re mentally ready; we’ve been there before; and we know what to expect.” “I’m pretty competitive,” she continued, “‘but at this level: of curling, you're ex- pected to be competitive and "intense on the ice, but not . necessarily so off the ice.” Moore, 31, has curled since she was 33, the mini- mum. age allowed to par- ticipate in the sport. Moore then tock a year off curling, and when she returned found her team didn’t place for about three years. But parallel to this time, Lindsay Sparkes, also a North Vancouver girl, was making headlines by winning the 1976 and °79 Canadian Championships. Sparkes’ team retired after the ’79 win, so in °81 Moore and Sparkes teamed up, and the two are still together, making up the North Van Rec Centre team with Deb- bie Jones and Laurie Carney, who will be the B.C. representatives at the 1985 Canadian Scott Tournament owe. It’s vital in a team to have confidence and communication. And the sportsmanship is important. After the game, no one cares about who won or Jost."
