Joint show for artists

TWO WELL loved North
Shore Artists, Susan Keane
and John Simeon, are com-
bining their considerable
talents for the first show of
the New Year at the North
Vancouver Civic Centre
Gallery, 141 West 14th
Avenue, North Vancouver.
Opening night, Wednesday
Jan. 9, 7: 30 to 9:30 p.m. will
see both artists on hand to
discuss their work with
visitors. Both artists. are
displaying twenty works
each,

Simeon, inspired by the
sheer beauty of the Canadian
landscape on his a-rival from

. England, started out in oils

but now uses watercolour,
preferring their subtlety and
delicacy to convey his feel-
ings. His landscapes are very
well known and he has had
shows in the Emily Carr Cen-
tre in Victoria, Place des
Atts, Coquitlam and was a
First Prize winner in the Pic-
ture Loan Open Painting
‘Competition.

Keane, who is a very com-
petent artist, is known for her
versatility. Her subject mat-
ter ranges from boats to foot-
ball players and nature
studies to cats, but the cats
are her favourite subjects and
she is able to capture their in-
dividual expressions in her
charming Chinese ink
