We still seem to be in need of some concrete answers to the whole question of educa- tion in the schools of British Columbia. Easter Seals work miracles Dear Editor: As Provincial Chairman for the Lions Easter Seal Appeal, I would like to take this opportunity to tell people how their Easter Seal dollars work. Recently your Lion Easter Seal Chairman has mailed out thousands of envelopes to the people of your vicinity. Those envelopes not only contain the Easter Seals, also a letter signed by me explaining where the money is spent. I would like to ask you sincerely, to please read it and mail your donation today. : school that art instruction is 3 part of total elementary school _Curriculum that has been established by the Provincial ‘Ministry of Education. The instructien-- cannot be replaced by the instruction of French or any -other subiect because all elementary school teachers, are obligated to incorporate art instruction into their timetables. Don’t we-care about this generation of students? Education is one of the most important gifts we give our children - for them we need the best: why are we now talking second rate programs? I would like to comment on the French program: what is it; what is the cost; who teaches; who attends; is it compulsory? ‘ The Lions have been looking after handicapped children through the Easter Seal Appeal for 32 years. With the Easter Seal-dollars you have entrusted to us for the welfare of handicapped children, we have been able to work miracles and make thousands upon thousands of handicapped children smile. We have been able to provide 115 Easter Seal Buses, three Easter Seal Camps, Easter Seal House in Vancouver which is a home- away-from-home for all the handicapped children in 13th but “Fretich 1 to replace art” appears—as a. headline the next night in’ the North Shore News. The lack: of daily newspapers.in this city has placed a_ greater responsibility’: on local newspapers to’ provide accurate and informative reporting. on the events influencing the community.
