Technology... The integration of Information Technology in the classrooms of North Vancouver School District is supported by the District’s Information Technology Leadership Team. The team, consisting of teach- ers, principals and vice-principals, exists to enable educators to integrate Information Technology throughout the curriculum. In the last year they have developed a District Scope and Sequence document for K - 7 com- puter skills that will help teachers identify specific computer related skills that are appropriate at each of the elementary grades and subject areas. The Ministry of Education, Skills, and Training recently proposed the creation of a Provincial Learning Network (PLN) that will connect every school in the province as well as provide access to the Internet. The ongoing themes of retevance to real-life, problem-solving, and communication are played out in the new Integrated Resource Packages or curriculum guides that are coming from the Ministry of Education for widespread use throughout B.C. During the current school year, 1997-98, elementary teachers are continuing to work toward a more hands-on approach to Math and . Science and have a new Physical Education curriculum to implement. More North Vancouver highlights include; the gifted programs, revised reporting and assessment practices, the secondary Challenge process, next years curriculum additions of secondary English and elementary Language Arts and the development of the N.V.
