That pretty much summed up
the evening. Humor that tended
towards innuendo and a fot of
harmless silliness.

That the foolishness was fun is a
tribute to a cast that mostly suc-
ceeded in fulfilling director Allen
Mactnnis’ aim of directly engaging
the audience.

Nora McLellan probably takes

that the troupe has mounted the
show that has, in the past, seen
them perferm at Florida’s
Disneyworld and on a Caribbean
cruise,

Music and dancing are only half
the attraction, as the RCYB pro-
duction is equally as renowned for
its lavish ‘set designs and elegant
costumes.

| did wonder at the cynicism of
his chairman occasionally, The
chairmen ! have heard before have
always been inordinately proud of
their ability to alliterate allegretto.

Susan Cox has a wonderful turn
with Flas Anybody Seen My Tid-
dfer but had not found the heart of
Burlington Bertie on opening
night. But being there at all as the
last-minute replacement for an
ailing Cortine Koslo was a huge
achievement.

Miriam Smith may be doing
more by now.

A Little Of Wot You Fancy is a
fun show. Cox has succeeded in
her aim of reminding us that there
is a value in laughing at absolutely
nothing.

But | must confess that as | went
back for a second helping after in-
termission | did wonder whether
the production might have been
better suited to the Vancouver East
Cultural Centre as the cornerstone
of a second-stage season.
