a brew during a Canucks’ game,

the routine is so archaic it’s an
embarrassment. Beer is served on-
ly in dreary designated areas
underneath the stands in the
bowels of the Coliseum during i in-
termissions.

You line up like pigs at a
trough to buy a coupon, then
stand elbow-to-elbow as you try
to engage in conversation through
smoke-filled surroundings, It’s
not worth the effort...

That new voice you’re hearing
on the Canadians’ public address
system at Nat Bailey belongs to
Sercy Vanda, a former radio dee-
jay (CJOR) who worked for years
at the annual PNE Fair directing

the public address announcer for
the WHA Vancouver Blazers and
was a pinch-hitter for Tom
Peacock at Canucks’ games...

As an aftermath to the Win-
nipeg Jets being eliminated by the
Canucks in the first. round of
playoffs, insiders suggest you can
look. for a heated dust-up involv-
ing Jets’ general manager Mike
Smith and head coach John Pad-
dock, Smith wasn’t impressed
with several of Paddock’s. roster
decisions and doesn’t make any
