Locals to sit
on Fisheries
appeal board

NORTH VANCOUVER residents
Ivar Johansen Sr. and Rosemarie
Adams were among the appointees
announced July 20 by federal
Minister of Fisheries and Oceans
John Crosbie to serve on a new
Pacific Region Licence Appeal
Board.

Johansen, who has fished most
of his life as a salmon troller, is a
longstanding member of the
Prince Rupert Fishermen's Coop-
erative Association.

Adams, a former chairman of
the Pacific Region Halibut Quota
Review Board, is a businessperson.

Adams also becomes the new
chairman of the Rockfish Licence
Appeal Panel.

The Minister of Fisheries and
Oceans has sole discretion in the
issuance of fishing licences under
