42 — Sunday, June 2, 1991 - North Shore News * f BUSINESS BRIEFS ALARM COMPANY A NORTH Vancouver businessman who runs an alarm and security systems company has taken exception to comments made by the West Vancouver Police Department regarding the illegal sale of a new alarm system to come on to the marke. Earlier this month, West Van- couver police said they had received reports concerning the il- legal sale of an alarm police described as ‘‘inexpensive and low quality.” But David Stark of Stark Secu- rity Services, which offers a wide-range of security services, said the police had no right to describe the alarm system as being low quality. In fact, he says it’s ene of the best units on the mar- et. . ‘We have a problem with peo- ple selling these particular alarms and they don’t have a right to do so. The police have taken a stand buc the police spokesman didn’t realize that there are people, like myself, who are licenced to sell these units,” said Stark. While the police did not name the brand of alarm system they said are being sold illegally, Stark believes it is the same unit as he is selling. **These alarms blow away most of the alarms on the market. J think the public should be allowed to compare the different systems and then they can decide. This is a case of building a better mousetrap.”” He added that the Apprehender alarm system he is selling is wireless, is easy to operate, in- cludes a 120 decible siren which is technically developed to cause nausea and vomiting and has a one-year full coverage warranty with an extended 10-year option. Stark said he formed his com- pany because of what he says is a lack of reliable wireless and hardwire systems currently on the market.
