Cap office space market ‘CAPILANO MALL sees itself as a **people-oriented destination,”’ and is appealing to anyone wanting professional office space, accor- ding to mall manager Phil McAr- thur. “Our company feels the shopp- ing centre is very much a focal point in the community. Office space can add to that community feeling in terms of being a destina- tion place,’’ he said. “Why not add professional of- fice space? “It's suitable for lawyers, doc- tors, accountants — anyone who wants to be in a people-oriented destination.” McArthur said he has heard of some doctors’ offices located in shopping centres, where rather than have someone wait in the waiting room he is given a pager and encouraged to shop until the doctor is ready to see him. McArthur said about 1!7,000- square-feet of office space is available for lease on all three levels of the shopping centre. LANDMARK LOCATION He said the space could be tailored to the need of the individ- ual leasing it, and noted that of- fices on the mall’s third floor have a “spectacular view of the Van- couver skyline.” “It’s also a landmark location on the North Shore. If you say you have an office in Capilano Mall - people know where you are,’’ he said. Capilano Mall recently under- went a $35 million dollar expan- sion and renovation program, since it was purchased in March, 1984 by Cambridge Shopping Cen- tre. Cambridge is a Toronto-based company that manages 42 shopp- ing centres from coast to coast in Canada. Capilano Mall is Cambridge Shopping Centre’s first project in B.C. It also is the first shopping cen- tre on the North Shore to provide its customers with a child minding service. “It’s a very pleasing shopping centre,’’ said McArthur. “It’s bright, airy, contem- porary.”’ He said there’s a large foyer en- trance, with glass elevator and ample free parking. COMMUNITY GROUPS McArthur said the mall also of- fers non-profit organizations in the community the opportunity to use the mall’s community room. He ‘said groups such as North Shore Neighbourhood House and the North Shore Seniors’ Network have taken advantage of the com- munity room. Upcoming community projects, sponsored by the mall, include a charity bazaar Oct. 16-18 where non-profit groups can use the mall’s location to do some fund raising. On Nov. 8 North Shore Neigh- bourhood House will be holding a Community Resources Show in the mall to let parents know what pro- grams for children are available locally. Capilano Mall will celebrate another grand reopening Sept. 17-21 when 20 more shops are of- ficially opened, bringing the total number of shops and services to 110.
