Options for volunteers THE NORTH Shore Information and Volunteer Centre is looking for volunteers to aid local non- profit sacieties. CANDY STRIPERS needed for a West Vancouver care facility to help seniors at meal times, letter writing, etc. on Tuesdays between 4 and 6 p.m. Volunteers (male or female) should be 14 to 18 years of age. Helpful for those interested in nursing. Training given. ART GALLERY DOCENT for Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons at a gallery in the Deep Cove area. CRAFTS INSTRUCTOR for arts and crafts program for seven or eight residents in a private care facility who are frail and elderly. Simple crafts that can be com- pleted in one or two sessions would be helpful. North Vancouver loca- tion. SHOPPER/VISITOR for frail elderly 80 year old woman living in Lonsdale area. Also needs to go to the bank occasionally and would like assistance with climbing some steps. TEEN DROP-IN CENTRE needs assistance with the program which runs after school Wednes- days 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on Fri- days until 1! p.m. Training will be given. INFORMATION CENTRE volunteer to give information by phone and in-person to compile files, and take registrations for community programs. Deep Cove area. PLAYROOM ASSISTANTS to help supervisor with pre-schoolers while mothers have a break. Three North Vancouver locations to choose from operating 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednes- days and Fridays. PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT needs volunteers to act as support systems for cancer patients and their families. Excellent training given. COURTWATCHER volunteers needed by North Van. Family Court Ctee to attend North Van. Family Courthouse Wednesday and/or Thursday mornings or afternoons, Training in March, program starts April. Volunteer should be mature, perceptive.
