Three years ago the first
branch of the Duncan-based
Citizens United for Safety &
4 Justice was formed on the
i North Shore.

Officials and citizens
doubted that such an
organization, not affiliated
with any group or political
party, could survive because,
“the silent majority are
generally apathetic’.

Not only has the organiza-
tion survived, it has grown
steadily in membership and
has gained much respect and
credibility from officials and

politicians alike.

No grants from govern-
ment have been received nor
have they been requested, as
the group wishes to speak in-
dependently and critically
about the concerns evolving
from the Criminal Justice
System — some of the condi-
tions and laws that have per-
mitted the crime and
recidivism Tate to escalate.
