woman and her young son
escape from their North
Vancouver home moments

before it burst into flame

Mrs. Bev Silverton had

been unsuccessful in putting
out a fire in the downstairs
area of her home at 1325

As he helped her and her
son to safety, the fire swept
through the house and up the
stairwells, burning the living
room, kitchen and hallway
leading to the bedrooms.

A spokesman for North
Van Distnct Fire Depart-
ment says the fire was
discovered by Mrs

when he went downstairs to
