ee on a rr) bad £ B4-Wednesday, November 12, 1980 - North Shore News sport Writeoff week for NorWes Caps In spite of the Tiger’s appearance By MIKE HOCEVAR Everybody knows that the horror shows are usually on late night T.V. on Fridays and Saturdays, but for Nor Wes Caps coach Jim Hall, Sunday’s game with the Abbotsford Flyers was the horror show. After building a 4-2 lead halfway through the contest. the Caps gave it away to the visitors and ended up 7-5 losers. the play was the fan's delight, but Caps’ sloppiness turned off Hall so much that he couldn't .be found anywhere near the rink right after it was over. The result, combined with a 6-1 defeat by Cowichan Valley Capitals and an 11-3 downer to B.C. Junior Hockey League leaders Nanaimo Clippers during the previous two nights, meant the weekend was a total writeoff for the Caps. A lack of discipline and not enough poise are the Caps’ problems. Harsh criusm? Maybe, but fair enough from the manage- ment’s view. They feel the club has the talent to win their share of matches. A coaching change several games ago brought short term results in a tno of victories. But that’s natural, as one longtime fan observed Sunday, as players will go all out for a new coach in the first few efforts. Vern Moberg handed over the coaching chores to Hall to see if it would help the team, but they're back to old tricks. It's true most of the Caps are tn their first campaign of junior competition but they are a skillful crew and a little more concentration will produce a few more wins.
