north shore news HEALTH Conference to debate drug abuse THE public is invited to attend a substance abuse conference next Saturday at the North Vancouver District municipal hall. According to recent Health Canada statistics, about 12,700 injection drug users reside in the Lower Mainland, Based on that number, an estimated 730 injection drug users reside on the North Shore. In 1997, B.C. coroner statistics indi- cate that nine North Shore residents died from the use of illegal drugs. North Vancouver District, (NVD) municipality is hosting the conference in partnership with North Shore Health Region.
