for women’s refuge

LOCAL realtors put their sales
skills to work recently and raised
$2,100 for SAGE Transition
House (formerly Emily Murphy
House) — North Vancouver's only
refuge for battered women and
their children.

Led by Dorelle Andersen of Sutton Group
West Coast Realty, the realtors organized a
giant garage sale held Saturday, May 2 at Sr.
Agnes Church Hall.

The organizing team also included mem-
bers of the North Vancouver division of the
Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver —
division president John Boden Sr.. Rod

Maclean, ard Bob Keseel.

all economic levels., including families on the
North Shorz * said Andersen.

Local merchants contributed ratile prizes,
while realtor volunteers went through the
community ccllecting clothing, housewares,
books and oth:r items to sell.

Emily Murphy House was founded in
1979 to provide emergency shelter, coun-
selling, advocacy work, and support for
women and their children fleeing abusive
situations. Almost 500 women and childrea
were assisted last vear.

The mame was changed to
Transition House earlier this month.
