NORTH VANCOUVER City
Council has amended the city’s
duplex zoning changes after
duplex o-vners complained about
the effect the new regulations

would have on them.

Amendmenis to the bylaw,
aimed at down-sizing city
duplexes, were the subject of a
Sept. 23 public hearing.

The biggest complain: at an
Aug. i2 public hearing was that
RT-2 zoned properties would
automatically become RT-1, since
RT-2 zones allow for bigger build-
ings.

Under the amended bylaw, cur-
tent RT-2 zones would be main-
tained. :

The same zoning amendment
will omit basement or cellar areas
from the calculated floor space
ratio in single-family houses built
prior to 1950.

NORTH VANCOUVER District Ald. Joan Gadsby has
said she has serious concerns about the accountability of
the local RCMP after the police released an apology last
week concerning a random-shooting incident involving
Gadsby’s daughter. The RCMP had denied earlier that
Gadsby’s daughier had filed a report with them after the
young woman had her rolled-up window shot out while

travelling oa Capilano Road recently arcuad midnight.
In an RCMP press release, Const. Marty Blais ziso
stated that what caused the window to break had not
been established yet. Gadsby called the local RCMP
sloppy for denying that the report had been filed ebout
the incident.
