24 - Friday, July 13, 1990 - North Shore News New ICBC claims A UT OM OT I facility opens IT’S A ‘‘good news-bad news”’ situation. The bad news is that auto in- surance claims in 1990 continue to run ahead of last year’s Statistics. The good news is that as of Friday, June 29, North Shore residents with claims have a second, state-of-the-art ICBC claim centre to look after them. AutoTopic Ken Hardie INSURANCE CORPORATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA The new North Shore East Claim Centre is located on Lyn- nmouth Avenue, with the main entrance opposite the North Shore Winter Club and the exit on Brooksbank, across from the Cannell Film Studios. With this new addition coming ‘‘on line,’’ the name of the Lloyd Avenue centre has been changed to the North Shore West Claim Centre. North Shore East will look after people living east of Lons- dale to Deep Cove while North Shore West will cover all the way to Pemberton. The new claim centre has a complement of 75 staff that in- cludes adjusters to look after in- jury claims, estimators and ad- justers for vehicles plus clerical staff and supervisors. The build- ing has been designed to ac- commodate up to 90 staff. Total space amounts to 26,000 square feet and is just about evenly divided between office area and vehicle bays for cars, trucks and heavy equipment. Like all other ICBC claims fa- cilities in the Lower Mainland, this new centre is connected to Dial-A-Claim Central. If you're involved in an accident, all you have to do is call §20-8222, give the details to the operator, and your appointment will be made for you. Once you are referred to either North Shore claims facility, an innovative new telephone system will help you stay up to date on your claim. Anyone with a touch-tone telephone needing to reach their adjuster can take ad- vantage of a service called “Direct In-Dial.”* This allows you to call any hour of the day or night and leave a message for your ad- juster in their ‘‘voice mail box.’’ The adjuster can retrieve your message from any telephone, anywhere. The new telephone system gives you step-by-step instruc- tions when you call. If you have a rotary dial phone or if you are not sure of what to do, the system will instruct you to stay on the line so that a Claims Ser- vice Representative can take your call. We are planning to hold an open house at the new facility some time this fall. It will be a great opportunity for neighbors and school kids to meet not only the people who settle claims, but also our Traffic Safety staff who would dearly like to keep the number of those claims as low as possible.
