The proposal suggested utilizing a 3.3 acre site on Marine Drive be- tween Earl’s Restaurant and the on-ramp to Lions Gate Bridge for a 55-apartment building for seniors and six townhouse units for 48 families. Although the proposed project is in West Vancouver, district sup- port was sought as the site would require access from Curling Road (off Capilano Road). Council and planning staff ex- pressed concerns as to density, in- adequate on-site parking, adjacent traffic, noise pollution and school services. Mayor Marilyn Baker said she was not opposed in principle to seniors housing in reduced numbers on the site, but was “unilaterally opposed”? to farnily housing in that location. “Talk about sending your kids out to play in the traffic,’’ she said, Council voted to advise the Rotary Club that ‘‘the district supports the concept of social housing, but cannot support the use of the site proposed for this purpose.”’ baie | cABITANG" etic ea to our future * DB Brent Eilers For personal attention to every detail, give me a call...
