couver provincial courthouses
recently to face various charges
laid against them.

North Vancouver provincial court
Nov. 6:

Gordon John Robinson was fin-
ed $35 after the 37-year-old Van-
couver man pleaded guilty to fail-
ing to appear for a scheduled court
date.

Casey Bruce Watson received a
conditional discharge and was
placed on probation for six months
after the 26-year-old North Van-
couver man was found guilty of
assaulting a female.

Nov. 5:

Enzo Simeone Centis was fined
$350 after the 25-year-old Van-
couver man pleaded guilty to fail-
ing to stop his vehicle at the scene
of an accident.

Steven James Darvill was fined
$250 and prohibited from driving
for six months after the 28-year-
old North Vancouver man was
found guilty of failing to stop his
vehicle at the scene of an accident.

A stay of proceedings was
entered in a charge of failing to
remove dog excrement from a
North Vancouver street laid
against North Vancouver resident
Margaret Halley.

Daniel Britten Hagarty was fin-
ed $350 after the 38-year-old Van-
couver man pleaded guilty to fail-
ing to comply with a court order
that required he refrain from
visiting a North Vancouver ad-
dress.

Council’s intention to bring for-
ward a Stopping Up and Closing
Bylaw for first reading was itself
stopped in its tracks.

Ridgeway Avenue residents had
complained to council about traf-
fic from the westtound Upper
Levels Highway cviting through
their street to Uyper Lonsdale,
especially durizg rush hour.

In an effort to address resident
concerns, council voted Sept. 28 to
prepare a bylaw to stop up and
close the southerly 10 feet of
Ridgeway at Highway 1.

Florence Dickinson, who lives in
the 300 block East 25th Street,
pointed out that complete closure
of Ridgeway would lengthen the
journey from Lonsdale to the front
of her home by 1.2 miles.

Or, she said, the closure would
place her and the other residents in
the block in the unpleasant and
potentially dangerous situation of
U-turning on the Upper Levels at
Lynn Valley in order to avoid ex-
cess mileage. Emergency services
would be placed in the same
predicament.

Council recently decided to defer
the first reading of the bylaw until
