The News has learned that environmental protection manager Mel Koryk has been under investigation for a number of weeks by the disirict’s director of corporate services Dave Stewart over complaints lodged with the municipality by district resident Brock Davidson. Davidson has alleged via a series of e-mails to council and staff that Kotyk, a district cmployce since 1992, has been acting inappropriately with respect to development of a lot that Kotyk had bought in Indian Arm. Davidson was prosecuted several years ago by Kotyk and the district for doing unauthorized work in a protective covenant area. Davidson’s specitic allegations include that Kotyk: @ contravened district environmental bylaws; @ constructed a pier and dock without the necessary permits; called Davidson’s employer (BC Hydro} to complain of Davidson's actions; @ abused his office; @ spent time on the job working on his project: See Kotvk page 4 Gillian Guess jury hears final defence arguments Robin Brunet Contributing Writer GILLIAN Guess’ fate is in the jury’s hands.
