OK. OK. We're talking about Northlands here. That's
Northlands, as in Northlands Public Golf Course that
should, according to North Vancouver District
Councillor Ernie Crist. have been called Northlands
Public Musicipal Golf Course. After all, it was built with
borrowed public money and with affordable golf
promised to all. But with the course coming in at $1.225
million over the jast of several adjusted budgets, and
owing $11.8 million to the district's Heritage Fund
course managers wants direction from council as to
whether the payments (with interest) are to be met reg-
ularly. If so, they argue, fees are needed beyond the $28-32 typically charged for a low-
quality municipal course. The North Shore Public Golf Course Society argues that
Northlands is “top-heavy” in both its administration and maintenance budget and
that green fees of S47 makes Northlands a publically funded facility for the wealthy.
