The event will focus. on
Squamish Nation participation in
the Qatuwaas Festival being
hosted by the village of Waglisla
(Bella Bella),

The festival is scheduled to
begin June 27. On June 1 the
Squamish paddlers will leave from
Ambieside Beach in) West Van-
couver and make the $60-km
(397- mile) voyage to the village
in a 12-metre (40-ft.) ocean-going
canoe carved from a single red
cedar.

Some of the activities slated for
Saturdae’s event inciude rides in
the Kaszelh (sea-going canoe in
exchange for a donation to the
project, native dance exhibitions,
and a native lunch at Troll’s Res-
taurant.

Squamish artists will demon-
strate and display their crafts at
Spirit Gallery.

The celebration begins at 10:30
a.m. and continues to 3 p.m.
