‘80s men meet
designer hair

THE MANNER in which today's
men view their hait -~ or lack of it
— would perplex or perhaps even
shock their more rebellious,
endedringly sloppy and not so dis-
tant brothers of the sixties.

With the onslaught of such
trends as personal computers, jams
and Yuppies has also come the
designer haircut.

Far from a "60s ponytail or ‘SOs
crew cut, the '80s designer haircut
is something between punk rock
hairdos — mohawk cuts, tie-dyed,
jet black, platinum or orange red
hair worn in a variety of styles,
and in different lengths — and
those haircuts found only in a
fashion magazine.

Today’s chic man no longer
visits the corner barber for his
haircut: he is much more inclined
to go to a unisex haircutter who
specialize: ia styling his locks and
presemting him with a very stylish
and expensive oill.

Men are enjoying a luxury once
thought to be allotted to women
only: sporting a hairstyle that says
something about the person who
wears it.

Along with layered haircuts, hair
that is cropped on the sides and
longer on top, and that old

photo submitted favorite, the crew cut, men have
taken to wearing their hair-in a
short ponytail-like swashbuckler
style — or slicking it back ‘20s
style.
