Built in 1911, Brian and Kay Scheibe bought the house five years ago, planned the new design over three years and are just finishing the renovations. Their idea was to retain a cottage atmosphere, but with a contemporary ap- pearance. Starting with only 950: sq. ft., the house has been enlarged to 1800 sq. ft. Sitting on a southerly sloping ‘ lot, the house receives lots of sunshine and has a fine view out over English Bay. Sunshine and glass , THE PHOTO on the lower right shows what the home of Brian and Kay Schefbe to the Scheibe home are the looked like before their renovations. The photo on the lower left shows Brian's office glassed-in rooms at the front AN which is located in the new glassed-in area at the front of the house. (More photos, which contain a bedroom, ; < oS = e see C10) sunroom, and an.office for Brian. Just outside the bedroom is a sunny patio with a pool and waterfall. A new kitchen has been added to the rear of the house with a convenient island in the centre. To help retain somo of the cottage atmosphere, new small paned windows were added to many areas of the house which were custom- made by B.C. Sash and Door. One nice little touch is all the inside door knobs are porcelain while outside ones are brass. Being a_ tandscape designer, Brian did a great job on the | landscaping which includes a fruit garden cointaining Kiwi friut, pears, plums, blucberrics, lingonberries and shrub trees of many varicties.
