A union organizer said Friday that people behave aggressively toward them because they work in a nuclear piant. Chris McArdle, a union spokesman, said social pressures on the employees at Sydney's Lucas Heights plant were greater because of the present anti-nuclear chmate. Because of the psychological burden members have to bear, the union has asked $25 a week “pressure payment,” McArdle said. It was not known how the management has reacted to the demand. . Some of the plant’s 1,000 workers claim anti-nuclear slogans have been painted on their cars. “When a Lucas Height employee is at a party and the conversation gets around to people's jobs, they get a hostile reaction,” McArdle said. “People take out their anti-nuclear feelings on them. It is not a normal factory phenomenon,” McArdle said. He said the massive security imposed at the plant was another pressure on the employees. “There are also incredible safety requirements they must know and _ observe scrupulously,” McArdle said.
