Ali Dehghan, 30, of North Vancouver, and Ali Torkladani, 27, of Burnaby, are charged with allegedly extorting money on June 22 from Mahamood Khan. The charged men are not in custody and are slated for a court appear- ance today to set a date for trial in North Vancouver provincial court. According, to a search warrant, the two accused men went to Khan's British Properties’ home in June and demanded money. They were sent there by another man who said Khan owed him money. Khan negotiated a deal with the money collectors. He agreed to pay the men $15,000 for not hurting him. Dehghan and Torkladani wi co) receive $20,000 from the man who sent them to collect money from Khan relating to a business dealing. Khan does business setting up camps for oil rigs in Alberta, according to the search warrant. Marciano Chua, 27, trom Richmond, perished in a diving mishap at Whytecliff Sunday morning in West Vancouver. Another diver, 28-year-old Frederick Dee of Burnaby, was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
