ety of bulbs on sale,
and this year’s selec-
tion promises to be
better than ever.

Never before have we had
such a wide range of species
and color combinations to
choose from.

Spring flowering bulbs are
much more versatile than
many gardeners commonly
think. They have a wide
range of blooming times, col-
_ors and heights — character-
istics that can be used to
achieve great results in almost
any garden situation.

A large formal or massed
bed is great for color impact
» but may not suit many gar-
dens. Small clumps of 12 to
20 bulbs will still create a sig-
nificant splash of color in
smaller areas.

Using bulbs in a more
informal way in rock gardens
or perennial beds can be very
effective but requires more
planning and a greater num-
ber of bulbs to get the best
results. Bulbs that flower
early and do not compete
with other perennials might
be the best way to start. |
