Windstar features unique door system

ALTHOUGH most new.
mini-vans now offer a
fourth driver’s-siske, slid-
ing or hinged rear doo,
the Ford Windstar
(which was frst intx0-
duced in 1995) was mot
designed with one.

So, Ford engineers have
come up with 2 unique solu-
ton for the 1998 Windstar
(which went on sale this
montit). The ‘Family Entry

? includes a longer dri-
ver’s door and a driver's seat
that folds and slides forward to
allow access to the second row

The Windstar’s new dri-
ver’s door is 15 cm (six inches)
longer, and when combined
with a ‘Tip Slide’ folding front

seat, ides a two foot-wide
children or adults to

access the second-row seat. It’s
also handy for throwing,
parcels in behind the front
seat. A memory feature allows
the driver’s seat to return to its
original position when moved
