There's something for everyone!

here’s nothing like a float-filled, marching band
kind of parade to fill you with a sense of commu-
nity pride, and make you feel like a kid again!

A Over the next couple of months at Lonsdale Quay, and throughout
the streets and parks of North Vancouver there will be music, clowns
and carnivals. It’s festival season, and the theme this year is “good

f old fashioned family fun.” Just ask Mel Clark, organizer of this years

" Lynn Valley Day. “On May 25th, we're planning an old-fashioned her-
itage day, and we have the popcorn and the candy floss to prove it!” Living on
the North Shore is not only beautiful, it’s fun! Here is a list of community

events we at “Quayside” know you and your family will enjoy.

A Lower Lonsdale Fest
A first this year . Make your way down to ~
lower Lonsdale for a Community
Celebration Day on Saturday June 8th from -
1] a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A Treasure Hunt, designed to cake people,
of all ages, throughout the Lower Lonsdale
area, will focus on discovering more about
the area, past and present. Eveyone who
participates: will be eligible to win prizes
donated by local merchants.:
‘Treasure seekers wil! gather co collece their
instructions at the Seven Seas parking lot at
the foot of Lonsdale Avenue, starting at -
11:00 a.m. Entertainment, coffee and dis-
plays featuring the past, present and future
of the area by the North Vancouver
Museaum and Archives and the City .of

A West Van Fest .
Toss your blanket on the curb on June Ist
and park it for a kid-packed. parade in
honor of West Van's Community Day. The
parade leaves Ambleside and 13th, at 10
am, moves up Marine to the Recreation
Complex at 22nd. There you'll find ‘old
time Maypole dancing, pony rides, a craft
fair, seniors’ activities and a penny carnival
until 4 pm. ”
A Fish Fest Boe
Ever been eyeball to eyeball with an octe-
pus? You may have the chance as divers
_ from the Vancouver Aquarium retrieve trea- -
sures from the deep for you to look at as
part of Ocean Day at Whytecliff Park on’
June 8th. From 11 am co 3 pm enjoy beach
walks, diving displays, plus kids’ arts and

Enjoy music and dancing from around the
world June 22nd - 25 at Centennial
Theatre. Be suze to browse through. the
Folkfest Craft Fair running June 20 -29 at
the Civic Centre at 14th and Lonsdale. A
colourful parade kicks off the festivities ‘ac
10 am on Saturday, June 22nd.
A Kids Fest
O.K., so you have to cross the bridge for
this one....but it’s worth it. The Vancouver -
International Children’s Festival runs May
27 to June 2 at Vancouver's Vanier Park.
With an exciting mix of roving minstrels,
puppeteers, and some of the biggest names
in kids’ entertainment, not to mention a
storytelling tent and a few wild dance class-_
es, you're sure to have a gas! For more infor-
