Hikers found

TWO BURNABY hikers who went missing Christmas Day

were found Boxing Day morning, culd and hungry but in

good spirits, said North Shore Rescue Team search manager
George Zilahi.

Shannen LeBlanc, 25, and David Bempoe, 26, were
plucked from Lynn Headwaters Regional Park by RCMP
and Provincial Emergency Program helicopters at 9:15 a.m.
The hikers spent the night huddled together above the first
waterfall at Norvan Creek, approximately eight kilometres
(five miles) from the start of their hike.

The two were not equipped for an overnight stay. They
did not provide information on their intended destination
and were not registered at the GVRD kiosk.

North Shore Rescue recommends that all hikers be prop-
erly equipped. Hikers should advise a responsible person of
the intended hiking route and expected return.
