The latest tax increase was part of the recent- ly released 1991- 92 B.C. budget which added another 34 cents to a pack of 25 cigarettes. This translates to smokers paying about $5 for a pack of cigarettes (in- cluding GST) with $3.50 of that going to the povern- ment. Tobacco companies want to stop what they view as unfair taxation of their six million Canadian custom- ers.
