June house prices up over ’84 levels IN THE LATEST survey published by one of Canada’s leading residential real estate companies, house prices at the end of June showed signficant increases over a year ago. Price increases averaged about 5% on an «annual basis. A’ Cross Canada Home Price Survey showed that larger or ‘executive’ type homes recorded the largest increases as com- pared to June 1984. In the past, the survey on- ly tracked changes in prices over the latest four month period. Starting with this survey, price changes’ will now be measured on an an- nual basis, covering the latest twelve month period. The survey will continue to be published three times a year, John B. Erickson, Vice President of Rea! Estate Services for The Permanent, commented that; ‘‘the mar- ket continues to be strong. With lower mortgage rates now available compared to a year ago, more people are upgrading their housing.
