SELECTING THE RIGHT FERTILIZER.

Fertilizer comes in many formulae froma large number of manufacturers, &somatimes presents. &
acontusing picture to you, the home gardeners. Simple remembering the meaning of the identify- . :-
ing numbers will help — they are always in the same order — Nitrogen— Phosphorus — Potash, or.

N-P-K. Lawns require more nitrogen, and you should use a 12-4-8 formula in spring, & something
like 18-6-12 or 20-10-5 in the warmer weather. Almost without exception flowering broadleaved
avergrcens (Rhodo’s, Azaleas, Camellias, etc.) need the reverse combination, & two common

ones are 4-12-8 or 4-12-10. On vegetables & annual flowers use 4-10-10 or 8-20-20 (the latter is 7

simply twice as strong as the former). Some people simply get the all-purpose 6-8-6 for every-
thing, but you will get better results if you use the proper plant nutrients. :
