.. Keith was a well-known devel-
oper and community leader on the

. North Shore. This building bears
his name, ‘as does Keith Road.
» The Keith. block provided tem-
porary quarters for the Bank of
Hamilton for a short time, until
their new: building was completed

across the street.

Like other commercia! buildings
in the area it has an angled entry.
Gther features include the curved
corner windows, decorative leaded
windows, and a series of square
projecting bay windows.

In 1955, as part of a. moderni-
zation program, the Keith block
underwent a facelift.

Stucco’ covered the original

Although changes’were made to
the Keith block, the. form and
function of this building remains
the same and it is a vital heritage
building in this historic district.
Correction notice: Many thanks to
one of my readers for bringing to
my attention an error in the recent
wartime housing .article. The 180
bachelor accommodations were
located at Third and St. Georges,
on the south side.
