Tree letter sends
positive message

Dear Editor:

Re: Eight-year-old Janine
MacArthur's Oct. 25 News
letter: Save the trees.

Janine:

I really liked what you said
about saving the trees in the
woods near Kirkstone Place a
lot and wondered if there was
a sensible way to answer it. All
of the answers I could think of
made me pretty sad and
embarrassed. Then the North
Shore News printed the story
abou: Marcel Gregori on their
front page and answered it
themselves.

Though. everything we
know or think we believe tells
us that we are a part of nature,
we act as if we own nature,

’ That is why it is news when a
bear protects her territory
from a threatening human but
not when some humans go
out and kill deer on weekends
just for the fun of it.

It is why people in govern-
ment decide to cut down a
forest so they can have place
to park cars or hit tiny white
balls around. Personally I

think this can change because

I sce more people like you

who know the truth and try

to do something about it.
